Pickup is from your hotel at 08:00 am, in our private transportation. We first head to salt mines of Moray; the drive is 1 hour and 20 minutes north-east in the sacred valley with a picturesque view. These Moray salt mines are formed by more than 3,000 artificial wells carved in the mountain side, that are filled by natural salty water that emerges from the sub soil, to then be dehydrated and finally obtain the most nutritious salt (pink salt).
Then we continue to the Moray ruins (an agricultural experimental center of Moray) famous for its sunken amphitheater, formed by four circular terraces that seem to disappear into the earth like an artificial crater. The site was an agricultural research station. Terraces were created, built on retaining walls and complex irrigation systems, allowing the Incas to grow different plant species.
Upon return we will visit the weaving artisans of Chinchero; who are the most prominent in the area. They will share with us their skills in dyeing and spinning their textiles. Then we will make a stop for lunch at one of the authentic local restaurants of Chinchero with a sweet view of mountains and overwhelming landscape (optional, not included ).
Then, we will return to Cusco by in our private transportation.
