DAY 1: CUSCO – PISKACUCHO KM 82 – LLACTAPATA – WAYLLABAMBA – AYAPATA

Greet the morning with a prompt pickup at your hotel between 04:00-5:00. Then, reach the beginning of the hike; Km 82. Explore incredible Inca Trail sites along the way including Llactapata. Refuel on traditional Peruvian cuisine in Wayllabamba before continuing onwards to Ayapata camp (3,300 m / 10,829 ft)

DAY 2: AYAPATA – DEAD WOMEN’S PASS – PACAYMAYU– CHAQUICOCHA

Start out your day early at 5am to prepare for the journey ahead. Enjoy breakfast as you fuel up before embarking on an exciting adventure through two mountain passes with breathtaking views of Runcuracay and Sayacmarca Inca sites.

After breakfast, we embark on an educational hike to explore renowned Inca sites including Phuyupatamarca, Intipata and Wiñaywayna. Along the way, experience a unique adventure by traversing the ancient paved trails and tunnels wrapped in the cloud and rainforest habitats.

DAY 4: WIÑAYWAYNA – MACHU PICCHU – CUSCO

Hike to Machu Picchu via the “Sun Gate” , and explore ancient Incan settlement Machu Picchu in a Guided tour, then bus down to Aguas Calientes town to catch the train up to Ollantaytambo to be transfer back to Cusco.

4 DAY INCA TRAIL ITINERARY

BRIEF INFORMATION OF THE INCA TRAIL CLASSIC 4 DAYS

We know how important this vacation is for you, so we do not want you to have any doubts or lack anything during your trip to this wonder of the world, therefore, the guide will meet at your hotel 1 to 2 days previous to departure, to give you all the information, and answer everything related to your concerns and doubts.

Our briefing is held at 7:00 pm in your Hotel, however you may change it by coordinating with us a week prior to departure.

FIRST DAY: CUSCO- BEGINNING OF THE WALK PISCACUCHO KM 82- AYAPATA

We will pick-up at 4:30 a.m. in our private tour transport from your hotel to head towards km 82. On the way we will stop in sacred valley of the inca Ollantaytambo town (1:45 hours approx.) to have optional breakfast, and take advantage to buy the things that we lack for the trip such as sunscreen, repellent, hat, etc. Afterwards we will continue traveling an-hour trip to start the walk from PISKACUCHO Km 82 (2,720 meters / 8,923 feet), located at the foot of the snowy Veronica Wakay Huillca (5,700 meters / 18,700 feet), where we will meet with our personal cook and porters who will carry the camping equipment (food and camping stuff), so that we start the adventure with a relatively smooth ascent (Inca flat path). On the way we will observe to the first great archaeological center of Patallacta, from the viewpoint of Willcaracay; Inca construction used as a military zone, from there you will be guided by an extensive and knowledgeable tour leader. Then we continue walking until we reach a very pleasant place along the bank of the Cusichaca River and enjoy the first lunch prepared by our chef; who will show us his cooking skills. Then we will continue with the hike for 2 more hours uphill and thus reach the AYAPATA camp (3,300 m / 10,829 ft); being this camp the furthest from the communities and classic camps, which shows that we will rest in a very quiet place.

Cusco | km 82 | Ayapata Camp

SECOND DAY: AYAPATA - CHAQUICOCHA

This is a very challenging day and full of adrenaline; in which we will cross the biodiversity of the ecological floors of the Andean zone, and we will pass through the highest points of the entire Inca trail.

We will start the long walk after a delicious breakfast, ascending through the heart of the cloud forest formed by a variety of vegetation and the prevailing native trees. We will arrive to the highest spot of the Inca road after 4 hours of long walk, the pass of dead womans pass WARMIWAÑUSCA ( 4,215 meters/ 13,825 feet ),  here we will proudly give a sigh full of  satisfaction for having  achieved the challenge of reaching  the highest point of the Inca road. From there we will be able to observe the amazing scenery of mountains, glaciers and steep valleys.

Then, we will descend towards PACAYMAYU'S valley ( 3,600 meters/ 11,800 feet ) where our staff will prepare lunch that will reward your successful effort.

The challenging journey continues as we ascend the second summit of Runku's Racay (3,977 mts/13,127 ft). Along our trek upwardly, an archeological site awaits to be explored - Runqu Racay. One more hour's invigorating hour-long trek will bring us to a breathtaking pass worthy of admiration!

you will eventually come across some daunting Inca steps that lead down to Sayacmarca Archaeological Center ( 3,657 meters /12,000 feet ). Venturing into this heritage site is sure to be an awe-inspiring experiences that along the horizon shows us an impressive sight of the high jungle and the tropical forest, which also the sunset  creates an enigmatic scene,  something like we would  be following  the Golden City

From here we will be able to see the CHAQUICOCHA camp (3,600 mt. / 11,800 ft ),with a 25-minute easy walk, you'll be there in no time.

THIRD DAY: CHAQUICOCHA - WIÑAYWAYNA

After our tireless work, today we will be rewarded with a captivating hike in the majestic Andes Mountains and lush high jungle. We'll have the privilege of witnessing renowned Incan structures that are sure to take your breath away - leaving us all in awe!

After tasting a delicious breakfast we will continue walking through cloud forest walking on the relatively flat cobbled Inca road for an hour and a half until reach the third pass of PHUYUPATAMARCA (3,700 meters / 12,140 feet), where we will be able to appreciate the whole Urubamba valley, the mountain ranges and its snowy mountains such as: Veronica (5,700 meters / 18,700 feet), Salkantay (6,271 meters / 20,574 feet) and Pumasillo (5,700 meters / 18,700 feet).

Then we will descend for 3 hours through the sub-tropical rain forest and visit the archaeological centers of Phuyupatamarca and Intipata. Lunch will be at the same camp site of WIÑAYWAYNA (2,650 meters / 8,694 feet). After taking a gratifying nap, and if we have a hot climate we will have the opportunity to shower with refreshing cold water from the mountains. Then we will visit the great archaeological center of Wiñaywayna known as the Mini Machupicchu, located 10 minutes from the camp.

Chaquicocha | Wiñaywayna Camp

FOURTH DAY: WIÑAYWAYNA - MACHUPICCHU- AGUAS CALIENTES-CUSCO

This day is the most expected by all, because we will reach our destination and fulfill your dreams. We will get up very early (03:30 am) with a hot cup of tea or coffee; so we can start the adventure.

Our chef will prepare a take away breakfast. After checking in, we will go to the gate of the sun INTI PUNKU (2,720 m.s.n.m. / 8,900 ft.), from where we will have a splendid panoramic view of Machu Picchu citadel and mountains at a distance.

Then we will continue walking for 45 minutes until we reach the upper part of Machu Picchu citadel, from where all the classic photographs are taken. After the photographs we will have free time to use the toilets and eat our snack before starting the guided tour into the city of Machupicchu.

Then we will take the bus for 25 minutes to the town of Aguas Calientes and then go to the train station to board at the time depending on the service reserved for the next station Ollantaytambo or Poroy, where our automobile will wait for you to take you back to your hotel in the city of Cusco.

Once we get your deposit, sed us a copy or a good photo of the passports of each participant (required to purchase the ticket and get the permit) and the last step we will send you a 100% confirmation of your trip.  

WHAT ABOUT THE REST OF THE PAYMENT BALANCE?

The Inca trail classic 4 day outstanding balance can be made one day earlier your trip in cash USD or soles, and the Cash payment must be paid 1 day prior to your trip. If you prefer Pay on line Visa or Pay Pal at least one week prior to your trip (plus a 7% service fee).

MAY I CHANGE THE DEPARTURE DATE AFTER THE PERMITS HAVE BEEN BOUGHT?

it’s a shame to tell that is not possible. Once is made the confirmation; the 4 day Inca trail classic trek permits have been bough. Peruvian government is strict in the limitation of ticket permits and regulations, where does not allow any changes. So that, permits are not transferable and refundable. Therefore, if you cancel the classic Inca Trail tour, the deposit done is not refundable at all! 

DO I NEED TO BRING MY PASSPORT? 

Yes! Its mandatory to have the original passport to be checked at the Inca trail and Machu Picchu and is very important that it has to be the same passport you sent us to book your Inca Trail classic and Machu Picchu permit. In case, you are renewing your passport, please send us ASAP the copy of your old passport and bring both of them with you to secure your permit.  

CAN I STORE MY LUGGAGE AT YOUR OFFICE? 

Of course, will be a pleasure to put away your luggage at our company storage or at your hotel that is free for customers, whichever is more convenient for you. After your return of your trip 4 days Inca trail, we give you back.

WHAT IS THE SCHEDULE OF MY TRAIN TICKET?

We book afternoon trains in order to have enough time during the hike and visit Machu Picchu. Our Expedition train service chosen (recommended) departs from Aguas calientes train station at 2:55 pm that take you to the train station of Ollanta Tambo arriving at 4:41 pm. Nevertheless, the reserve will depend on the available space; because it is the only means of transportation. Therefore, very recommended to book in advance.
